The past few weeks I have been learning what the "new normal" looks like for us in B.C. It's no longer jumping in the car and driving to Target to pick up a few items on my way home. For one, we are using public transit for everything. Did I mention we can't get
anywhere without using a train, bus, or our own two little legs (Haley really has it made because she just gets strolled around everywhere!)?
We also "go shopping" on a pretty regular basis. No more once-a-week grocery runs. We are going about every other day, people! Why, you may ask? Are we that unorganized? Well, maybe so, but it's also challenging to tote a load of groceries on the train! This family can only handle but some much in one trip :) Thank goodness we bought one of those rolling shopping cart things!
Another difference here is that there's the issue of no air conditioning in our apartment. Who would have thought? But it can get pretty hot on the 22nd floor! Thankfully, we have only had a a couple days of EXTREMELY hot temperatures---a good precursor to where we will be going in a few months :) Not to mention, on days like this, we lose water and electricity because the transformer get blown when everyone cranks up their individual AC units (we don't have one of those)! Oh, life. Just preparation for SA, I guess.
Overall, though, we are very thankful to be here. Our life changes aren't bad...just different. And different isn't necessarily bad :) We are glad you get to be a part of our journey as well!
